I'd prefer to see that skills such as dungeoneering require the use of OSRS Items skill (and maybe a team, which I think is an interesting and powerful idea) and the idea of using those skills in other areas. Agility would be much more fun and vastly better gameplay if it was skill-based and something you could master in achieving high xp rates, rather than the simple, mindless click marathon that it is.
This kind of update won't necessarily make playing easier however it will make it take less time. As you said, the gameplay is very simple. It just takes too long. You'll have a better experience by making it more difficult but also more efficiently.
To be honest, yes, I don't really like the grind either and that's why Jagex will be releasing with EoC to (hopefully) fix it. Personally, I'm fine with EoC but not EoC. What I'm looking for is for them to nerf swifts, goliaths and spellcasters. You can grant anyone who purchased a cmaul.
I think the main problem is that how would you fix the grinding? My suggestion is to include additional XP content, but have it is in the form of an instance. This ensures you don't get smashed to death. Sort of like Dungeoneering, I guess. The high-level content may a) provide you with food/pots, or b) let you spend enough money on food/pots. It's all they need to do is make sure it's not bottable.
It's fascinating to look at the gloves against. chaos debate. I'm not sure what the varying times of balance are between gloves or chaotics. Certainly the quests and combat level required force you to Buy RuneScape Gold have a much broader skillset (on a good team, you might possibly get to chaotics with purely a strong combat ability) but still require you to put in some time.
